This paper is intended to introduce the learners to poetry in
terms of its important characteristics as a literary genre. The
students are expected to gain experience of the dexterity of
poetry via focusing on nominated poems of various categories with
a wide range of issues and themes. The objective of this literary
task is to equip learners with the essential and required
techniques to appreciate meaning of poetry and understand how
poems are created, shedding light on several poetic devices and
tools, such as metaphor, personification, connotation, simile,
denotation, etc., to aid and support learners.
